[BCCIE] Contest for International Students in BC!

Attention international students in BC: there’s a contest with your name on it! And guess what the grand prize is? A brand-new iPad sponsored by the Ryerson Education Group! This is the British Columbia Council for International Education’s (BCCIE) 8th year of hosting this contest. So if you’ve been enjoying your time in BC and sharing it with your friends, who knows? Your post may just get you a brand you iPad! So get your cameras and blog posts ready!

Contest dates to remember

January 6 – The contest launches

February 6 17:00 PST – The contest closes, so take note!

Winner will be announced in late February.

Eligibility and rules to keep in mind

  1. You must be an international student or alumni from one of the following:
  • Public or independent high school in BC
  • Public or private, EQA-designated, language institution
  • Public or private, EQA-designated, post-secondary institution
  • Click here to check if your school is EQA-designated
  1. You must be over the age of 18 at the time of entry or have a parent/legal guardian complete this consent form.ㅤ
  2. Submitted content must be your original work.

How to enter the contest

Blogposts

One blog post with 4 photos will give you 5 contest entries.

  1. Follow us on Twitter (@StudyinBC) and/or Instagram (@StudyinBC)ㅤ
  2. Then upload in PDF or Word Doc format
  3. But make sure they’re 200-500 words
  4. Write on topics related to your experience studying in BC. You can also click here for tips on how to write your blog post.
  5.  Does not need to be professionally written
  6.  Attach a minimum of 4 high-quality photos to illustrate your blogpost
  7.  You can also enter daily to increase your chances of winning
  • Content must be unique. So submitting the same content will not count as an additional entry.

Photos

Four photos with captions will give you one contest entry.

  1. Follow us on Twitter (@StudyinBC) and/or Instagram (@StudyinBC)ㅤ
  2. Each entry must include 4 high-quality photos that focus on you, your study environment and/or your experience in BC
  3. For each photo, please describe what’s happening and where you took the photo in the contest form
  4. Then upload in JPG or PNG format
  5. You can also enter daily to increase your chances of winning
  • Content must be unique. So submitting the same content will not count as an additional entry.

What should be in your pictures?

The contest has a few themes which you can focus on. They are the following:

  • BC Seasons (summer, spring, fall, winter)
  • Community Life
  • Holidays and Festivals
  • Nature and Surroundings
  • School Life
  • Sports of BC
  • Taste of BC (cuisine, favourite food, etc.)
  • Traveling in BC

Also, don’t forget the number one rule in photography: no blurry pictures!

So what are you waiting for? Look back on some of your photos or go out and take some new ones! Submit as many entries as you want, since there’s no limit. But remember not to submit the same content. Good luck!
