[Gulf Islands SD] Only Four Days of Classes!

It seems too good to be true, but the Gulf Islands School District has only four days of classes. The Gulf Islands School District is in Salt Spring Island, the largest of Canada’s famous Gulf Islands. But before people think it’s far away, it’s only 30 minutes away from British Columbia’s (BC) capital, Victoria. Moreover, the scenery truly captures the beauty of the West Coast. So, for international students, they can look forward to a truly Canadian experience.

Four Days of Classes

In 2004, the Gulf Islands School District created the four days of classes. Students and teachers spend more time in the classroom during those four days of classes. So, even if students are in classes four days a week, they get the same amount of instructional time. As a result, Gulf Islands students have much higher marks on average on most government exams. Additionally, student attendance improved thanks to this.

On Fridays, students take part in activities such as clubs, sports, performance, and certificate programs. Because of this, students receive up to 20% more instructional time compared to other students in BC. In addition, for international students, they can take advantage of English Enrichment, Eco-Adventure, SAT and TOEFL classes, work experience, and community programs.

The Gulf Islands International Education Program

The Gulf Islands International Program is one of the most popular international programs in Canada. Additionally, it limits the number of students from any one country. As a result, they only admit 75 international students. So they can expect to fully immerse themselves in Canadian culture as well as a big improvement in their English. But students can also expect a high quality of education with outstanding performing and visual arts programs and exceptional computer technology programs. Also, international students can also look forward to developing their leadership skills and join top sports teams as well. Furthermore, international students can trust that the homestay coordinator will be there for them. And they can mail or call the homestay program 24/7.

If it isn’t the scenery that entices students, it’s probably the four days of classes. Either way, the Gulf Islands will be a truly unique experience for international students. Moreover, Salt Spring Island is one of the most desirable places in Canada to live in. With a welcoming tight-knit community, students will feel safe and right at home. And they’ll have an experience that they will always remember.
