Richmond School District is doing something amazing for international students – they can design and tailor their programs to meet their unique goals and needs. So, they can custom design their education! These programs will be partial or full programs and will include both language development courses as well as other academic courses with domestic students. Sound interesting? Program Overview
Students studying in the Richmond School District have the option of requesting custom programs made to suit their group of 15 or more students. These students can then enroll in a multitude of courses from ELL, to Physical Education, Computer Studies, Art and Music. Programs of this nature help meet the needs and educational goals of Richmond’s diverse population, which includes many international students.
Students in grades 1-12 are eligible for the program, and entry dates vary. For cost information, be sure to contact ahuang@sd38.bc.ca for a quote, along with the program application form.
Program Options
Two types of customized programs are offered to groups of 15 or more students who are applying. These are the full or partial immersion programs. In partial immersion programs include group classes that focus on language development, as well as other academic courses taken with Canadian students. However, the amount of integration into classes with domestic students in the partial program will vary depending on the time of year, and availability. Also, for both course types, professional teachers run the classes. Meanwhile, the full immersion program consists of all classes with domestic students.
Applications
For students wishing to participate in a customized program, you’ll need to complete a group information form. The form will consist of sections detailing the length, program type, educational goals, weekend activities, and any supplementary information. After, wait to be contacted by a representative.
