[Richmond School District] Keep on Learning via 2020 Summer Camps

Richmond International Education is aware there are many international students and their families that have chosen to stay in Canada this summer due to travel restrictions. Thus, the district has developed several 2020 programs and summer camps for students and families to keep building connections, and improving their English skills throughout the summer.

There are 3 summer program options for students in elementary and high school, as well as the parents in their lives.

Intensive ELL Summer Program

This program can be a great option for students hoping to really sharpen their English skills for postsecondary and secondary school. So, students here will build their confidence in speaking, writing, and reading in English that will be critical to their success later on learning and working in English.

Students will be able to attend class at 9am-3pm from Monday to Friday throughout July. The program will occur both online and in-person depending on the present protocol.

So, if this is up your alley, be sure to apply online soon, it is starting in less than a month.

Elementary Summer Camps

8-12 year old students are welcome to take part in this fun and educational summer program option! The students in the Elementary Summer Camp will proceed with a combination of language learning and modified activities. Further, kids in kindergarten to grade 2 are eligible for a similar option that only occurs over half a day.

This summer camp will be running twice throughout the summer, from July 6 to July 24th, and then July 27th to August 14th. It will occur at 9am until 3pm, Monday to Friday. The camp will be a combination of online and in-person activities if COVID19 restrictions allow this.

If you have younger kids, be sure to get applying online shortly.

Parent Summer Camps

Richmond International Education is bringing a unique program to the parents of international students! Parents can now take part in summer camps to learn English, and establish friends and connections within the Richmond community.

The Parent Summer Camp will be running on the same dates as the Elementary Summer Camp, although it will only occur from 9am-12pm instead. Similar to the previous programs, the program will be a combination of in-person and online classes if COVID19 allows this.

Parents, now is the time to start applying! This is a great way to establish connections in Richmond. And, to continue learning how to help your young kids navigate their new life.

While things may feel very different this year, there are ways to continue learning and improving. Richmond International Education is offering 3 different summer camps, with ideally both in-person and online components. Keep up the good work while social distancing, and head back to school in September ready to take on any assignment.
