[KPU] New Diploma in Public Relations Grounded in Best Practices

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is answering industry calls for better public relations managers and communications experts. The University has created a new diploma program in Public Relations, which will ensure graduates are ready to create culturally-aware, ethical and clear content for customers and the broader audience. If you believe in the power of language and awareness, this is the program for you!

The Need for Public Relations Today

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is meeting the demands of today for clear, culturally-aware and ethical communication. They are introducing a diploma program in Public Relations to answer this call from diverse industries.

This diploma will train students in video production, social media marketing, Indigenous worldviews and business practices in order to get them ready for the 21st-century world of public relations.

The 2-year diploma will also easily meet industry demand since the professors will consist of industry experts. Further, students can take the diploma even further by then completing a Bachelor of Business at KPU or via transfer. They could also transfer into a Bachelor of Arts, depending on preference.

“Our new PR diploma allows students to study at their own pace, easily ladder into four-year degrees, and graduate as business-savvy, culturally-competent communicators,” says program co-ordinator Andrew Frank. “We are excited to continue building on our strong reputation by training excellent communicators who can help organizations navigate increasingly complex social issues and crises.”

Co-op and Career Experience

A co-op work experience option is available to give students m

ore opportunities to gather vital experience. A bonus is that they’ll earn money while doing this.

“For more than 20 years the KPU PR diploma program has been preparing students for a career in professional communications and we’ve seen many go on to have highly successful careers,” says Stephanie Howes, dean of the School of Business. “These changes will ensure our students have the real-world skills, cultural competencies, professional ethics and connections to succeed in the future.”

Kwantlen is paving the way to the future of communications. The University with this new diploma program will well prepare students for the ever-complex world of communications and public relations. Students will learn skills in video production, social media marketing, corporate communications and more! Plus, within the 2-year program, they can do a co-op experience as well.
