[TSOM] English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Open in Fall!



The Toronto School of Management (TSOM) is launching a brand new program., English for Academic Purposes (EAP). This will help prospective and current international students prepare for studying in a Canadian academic setting. Students will explore reading, writing, listening and speaking in English, specifically from an academic perspective. So, if this is something that interests you, the first intake commences on the first Monday of September!

Launching English for Academic Purposes at TSOM

Toronto School of Management has made the decision to launch a new program, the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program, preparing international students to study in Canada. This program will be an intensive academic pathway program, instructing students in reading, writing, speaking and listening using an academic lens.

Ehsan Safdari, Managing Director at Toronto School of Management, said: “We created this program to meet the needs of international students who require additional English proficiency training.

“The learning outcomes would go beyond the simple teaching of the English language. Students will acquire a solid knowledge of the language at an academic level, as well as developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills. They will also learn how to communicate confidently in different situations.”

There will be intake for this program each Monday of every month. Upon registering, students will complete an academic placement test before commencing the program. In the end, they’ll receive a certificate of completion for their work.

Pathway Option 

To begin, students who take the EAP program at TSOM are eligible for direct transfer into TSOM programs with completing the IELTS or TOEFL.

TSOM conducts a pre-program placement test for students entering EAP, in order to ensure they are placed in a suitable level of the program. This test is done online, ensuring students remain safe during COVID and don’t have to commute to a testing centre.
