What is the Centennial College Pathway Program?

Have you completed any post-secondary courses or gained knowledge from practical work experiences? You may be eligible to receive credit which means that you don’t have to repeat courses with topics you have already completed. Here are some of the different pathways that you can follow.

Centennial College has programs that collaborates with Ryerson University and the University of Toronto Scarborough for international students that are into nursing, journalism and new media studies. Bachelor of Science Nursing

The healthcare sector is in need of highly competent nursing leaders. The Bachelor of Science Nursing program shapes nurses who are playing an integral role in the health industry. You will be prepared to work with persons of different ages, diverse backgrounds and various of context in health and illness.

After Graduation Opportunities

Once you completed the program, you can write the National Council Licensure Examination and apply for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario to become a Registered Nurse. You will then have access to career opportunities in hospitals, clinics and many health or related organizations. You may also choose to pursue a master’s degree in nursing in Canadian universities.

The outlook for a registered nurse is expected to face labour shortage conditions over the period of 2019-2028 at the national level. The demand for nurses will increase. The median wage for a registered nurse in Canada is at $38.14 per hour according to the Government of Canada Job Bank.

Journalism

Do you want to be placed at the scene of major stories? Want to learn the latest digital and social media to craft and publish stories quickly and accurately. During the program, you will develop a portfolio of content using multimedia through either video, photography and even audio. You will learn to cultivate your own niche and publish your own magazine. Gain practical experience as you support producing online and print editions of the Toronto Observer which is an award-winning community newspaper serving East York and parts of Scarborough.

After Graduation Opportunities

The job prospects varier per province in Canada. However, opportunities with a journalism degrees are vast. You can find jobs in corporate communications as a communication specialist, become a journalist at a media house or work for the government as a media specialist. The median wage for a journalist is at $30 per hour according to the Government of Canada Job Bank.

New Media Studies

New Media has transformed and quickly evolved our everyday life. This program is highly project-based driven and focuses on the design and development of visually innovative digital products and the internet-of-things (IoT). As a student you will learn to create many products that integrate with various of platforms, using multimedia design, digital video, audio and photography.

After Graduation Opportunities

The opportunities for New Media grads are vast since you have a variety of career paths you can choose from such as Multimedia Specialist, Digital Marketing Specialist, Media Buyer, User Experience Consultant, Interactive Media Developer or Webmaster. Salaries can vary as it depends on which career path you decide to take.
