The Best Post-Bachelor Programs to Further Your Studies in KPU


If you would like to find a higher degree than a bachelor’s degree to continue your studies, you may consider KPU’s “Post Baccalaureate Diploma”(abbreviated as PBD). The post-baccalaureate diploma is a feature of Canadian higher education. It is a “diploma” between a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree.

KPU’s post-graduate diploma is very demanding in the job market and has a high employment rate. The GPA required for the post-graduate diploma is lower than that of the Master’s programs.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is also known as KPU. The word Kwantlen comes from the Canadian aboriginal language. It means “a runner who never tires,” which also indicates that KPU has always been a public university that strives for progress. KPU has five campuses in the Vancouver area, located in Richmond, Surrey, Langley, Cloverdale, and Civic Plaza.
KPU provides a wide range of business, art and design courses. All courses are student-oriented, taught in small classes, with sufficient interaction opportunities, and more than 100 transfer credit courses recognized by UBC and SFU. Each KPU course combines academic theory with applied skills, allowing students to apply their knowledge to the workplace and the community. While studying university courses at KPU, students could seek opportunities at school to subsidize living expenses. After graduation, students would be able to apply for a three-year work visa.

Human Resources Management

KPU’s post-graduate diploma in human resource management is designed for people with a bachelor’s degree to equip students with the ability to tackle management-related issues for today’s enterprises. This course is based on CPHR professional competence requirements. CPHR (Chartered Human Resources Expert Qualification Certification) is the only national certification recognized by Canadian human resources professionals and the only Canadian human resources professional qualification certification recognized internationally. This qualification certification represents the continuous recognition of the professionalism of the licensee. Students with a GPA of 2.67 for the KPU Human Resource Management Diploma might be able to waive the CPHR exam and obtain the CPHR qualification after having three years of professional human resources experience.

This course has 42 credits, and 6 credits are divided into management courses. 36 credits focus on human resource management research areas, such as interpersonal relations, HR communication, salary, labour relations, health and safety, organizational development and human resource strategy, etc. There are also elective courses from Co-op partner institutions.

Technical Apparel Design

Vancouver is the fourth largest apparel industry based in North America. KPU’s outdoor sports apparel design post-graduate diploma puts students in the world-renowned outdoor sports apparel industry.

This program collaborates with world-renowned companies in Vancouver, such as Arc’teryx, Lululemon, Mustang Survival and Sugoi, and top scholars and researchers. Students would need to take 36 credits during their two-year study. Graduates will receive skills in design, business management and leadership.
