Why is the Booster Dose Important?!

What is the Booster Dose?

A booster dose is an extra shot of the vaccine that protects you from COVID-19 for a longer period of time. You will receive either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine as they are interchangeable. The vaccine will not only protect yourself but also the people around you.

The two doses of the vaccine will not change your vaccination status and your BC Proof of Vaccination will still only show that you got two doses.

You should still get the booster shot even if you’ve already had COVID-19 and are recovered. You can get your booster shot after you have completed your self-isolation period.

How to Book an Appointment for a Booster Dose

You must first get your invitation and confirmation number. This is about 6 months after the date of your second dose.

Use that confirmation number from your invitation to book an appointment at a vaccine clinic or pharmacy, which are available online or by phone. You will be able to book an appointment between 1-5 weeks from when you first received your invitation.

Tip for Book an Appointment for a Booster Dose

Try not to limit the location. Let’s say if you live in Burnaby, try to find a location in Vancouver or Richmond. Expand your location search radius so that you have more time and date options. You can always refer back to your existing appointment link to reschedule.

If You Haven’t Got Your Invitation after 6 Months

That’s totally fine. Don’t panic as you will not lose your opportunity to get your booster dose. Just make sure you’ve registered with the Get Vaccinated system.
