Scholarship Opportunity at Kootenay Lake School District 8

Kootenay Lake School District 8 (SD8) offers scholarships to new international students attending Kootenay Lake Schools.

If you qualify, you may receive a scholarship of up to $500 that will be deducted from your tuition for your upcoming academic period ($250 for half a semester and $500 for a full year).

When submitting the scholarship application, you give SD8 permission to use the video/write-up and photo on the SD8 international website and on other marketing materials (only first names and countries of origin will be used in any published material).

Introduction to Kootenay Lake School District

Kootenay Lake School District 8 is in a beautiful area in British Columbia that is a sought-after tourist destination, particularly for outdoor summer and winter activities. A key component of their education is encouraging students’ passions. Being a smaller school district allows for more customized support and programs. Tuition includes ELL support and tutoring.

How to Apply for this Scholarship

You have to write an essay or film a short video based on the following prompts.

  • Theme: Why Kootenay Lake is your Canadian destination of choice and how coming to Canada will help you achieve your future goals.
  • Formats: Youtube video, Vimeo, a written essay, or some other form of media.

These things must also be attached.

  • Transcription marks
  • Instructor’s recommendation letter
  • Photo of yourself showing something about your home culture or your involvement in your community.

Once you’ve finished your project, you can email it directly to the branch of your school’s administration that takes care of scholarships. Be wary of the deadline because it’s on May 30th 2022 for the scholarship. Late applications will not be considered.
