It’s good to get a head start on your university career, especially if you want to go to school abroad. Good grades are one thing, but University of Toronto, also known as U of T, emphasizes another feature that their students must have, which is global awareness and citizenship.
U of T International Academy
Students should have access to the finest education, no matter where they are from. The University of Toronto is one of Canada’s best universities and is committed to matching up to those high expectations. The institution, located in a safe and multicultural city is rated the number one university in Canada, with 18% of the student body being international.
Online Programs at U of T International Academy
To go along with their philosophy, every student should have access to top education no matter their age or background. For students in high school (ages 15-17) who are interested in eventually becoming students at U of T, the following online courses are available to them.
GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP CHALLENGE
This program is designed to challenge students into becoming more critical thinkers. Students can choose from a number of courses:

- GCC+
Each course is a week long, for 15 hours each week. They are a rather intensive program instructing students on how to approach these issues. Whether students take one course or all five, they will come out with a better understanding of the world and leadership skills.
PERSPECTIVES ON GLOBAL BUSINESS
Future entrepreneurs should certainly take a look into this course. For two weeks, students collaborate and build their business skills with their classmates. Completing the course and the capstone project leads to a certificate from U of T New College. Even though it’s not a credit course, it’s an impressive achievement that can be used in college applications.

Much like the course on Global Business, students participating in Global Health will be able to critically analyze some of the health issues that are still present today. For those who want to be future doctors, nurses, and healthcare specialists, this would be a great introduction for you. At the end, students will receive a certificate of completion.
