Achieve Your Goals with the Support of Capilano University

Where is Capilano University Located?

Capilano University is in 3 locations, from the Sunshine Coast and Lonsdale. Its main campus, however, is in North Vancouver, where it enrolls approximately 11,000 students each year. In my experience of studying here, it is easy to commute to, provides vast parking spaces for students and has many busses available for students who do not drive.

Benefits of Studying at Capilano University

Capilano University is a small university where students have the chance to grow and develop skills. Classes at Capilano University are small but offer many advantages when studying here!

  • Working in a smaller class allows students to gain more help from teachers.
  • Small classes encourage lively discussions and practical learning.
  • Give a chance to innovate, lead and create ideas into a plan of action.
  • Gain skills and hands-on abilities.
  • Collaborate with students while having guidance from faculty members.

One of my personal favourite aspects of studying at Capilano University is that every class made me feel very comfortable and had a great learning environment. Classes could be as big as 30 students, but even with that number, I never felt intimidated when asking a question. It made learning feel more comfortable and encouraged me to ask questions to my instructors, which encouraged participation.

Cap U Student Life

Another great advantage of being a student at this university is that Capilano offers a variety of support for students, ranging from academic, exercise, and emotional support. It is also good to know that there are plenty of quiet areas for students to go to for studying or enjoy their breaks in between classes by going to cafes or other social areas.

Food/Cafes available on campus:

  1. Birch Food Court in Birch Building
  2. Tim Hortons in Birch Building
  3. Good Earth Coffee House in Library Building
  4. Subway In Birch Building
  5. Kiosk in Fir Building

One of my absolute favourite cafes on the Capilano University campus is going to Tim Hortons, as their coffee and teas are the most affordable for students. They also offer a variety of pastries, nicely complimenting whatever hot or cold beverage I ordered. The pastries make a great snack while studying and make my difficult day at school less stressful!

Library Study Spaces

Capilano University offers many spaces where students can gather and study together. Working in a library can be very efficient when getting homework done, but some students may find it difficult to focus while others talk around them. For me, it tends to vary daily. Sometimes I enjoy hearing students spend time together in this room, but there are other days when I prefer to study alone. Luckily, there is an ideal solution to this problem.

Quiet room

One of my favourite places to go in the library building is the quiet room, located on the second floor of the library building. I find it very hard to think straight if students are talking around me, which is why I commonly listen to music while I work. However, even while listening to music, it won’t always completely drown out the lively students around me. The quiet room is full of students who stay silent and work individually. There are also a good number of books to use for projects, research or papers, which I often took advantage of.

Collaboration rooms

If you are also looking for a place for group projects, collaboration rooms are also available for groups of 2-12 students where computers, printers, scanners, and other multifunction devices are. Located in the library building, It is a great area to get a head start on a project and work efficiently with minimal distractions.

Here is a list of places both within walking distance and very close to transit!

JJ Bean Coffee Roasters Park and Tilford Mall 333 Brooksbank Ave, North Vancouver, British Columbia V7J 3S8 Canada

Who doesn’t love to have a nice beverage after a busy day of class? JJ Bean Coffee Roasters is a well-known coffee shop in North Vancouver, specifically in Park and Tilford. If you aren’t a coffee drinker, no need to worry! JJ Bean has many other options for individuals to enjoy!

  • Teas

I would always go there with friends after school since it had some ideal aspects to it. There are indoor and outdoor seats available for customers, and close to a beautiful garden known as Park and Tilford Gardens, giving this coffee shop some beautiful scenery! I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a break from staying on campus and going somewhere that has a comfortable environment to study and relax!

LaserDome Plus 2455 Dollarton Hwy, North Vancouver, BC V7H 0A2

Who doesn’t love to have some fun after a stressful day of school? LaserDome is the perfect way to feel like a kid again and to encourage students to get off their feet after a full day of studying in stuffy classrooms! Their laser tag arena is a 4-level room with about 7,500 square feet of space, allowing many people to join games! Here are some of the prices provided for customers:

1 Game – $9.50

2 Games – $16.50

3 Games – $21.00

Deep down, this is one of my favourite fun activities due to my competitive personality. This place may seem like it is only for kids, but many young adults such as myself like to go here during the evening and have fun with friends. It was a great way to bond with my friends and practice teamwork, doing what we could to win against other teams. Nothing but fun memories are what I think of when I look at Laserdome!

LaserDome Plus also provides rock climbing, birthday packages and more! For more information on this, be sure to visit their website for more info!
