Exploring the City of Learning: Why You Should Choose CityU in Canada

City University in Canada, commonly referred to as CityU, is a private, non-profit university located in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded in 1984, CityU is an extension of City University of Seattle, a regionally accredited university in the United States. Academic Programs 

CityU in Canada offers programs that are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the complex and diverse challenges in various fields such as education, human services, and management. Their current degree offerings include:

  1. The Bachelor’s program offers undergraduate degrees in business administration, project management, and information technology, among others. 
  2. The School of Education and Leadership provides programs in counselling, education, and leadership. CityU also offers a Master of Counseling program that is accredited by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

International students can enroll in either the Bachelor of Arts in Management program (Undergraduate) or the Master of Counselling program (Graduate), which offer the following courses: 

  • Bachelor of Arts in Management courses
    • Depends on the year/semester

    • Diversity and cultural psychology
    • Ethics and law
    • Human development and family systems

The Bachelor of Arts in Management (BAM) degree program was specifically designed for anyone seeking a broad management background focusing on the organizational and human dimensions of the field. The Program enables students with a two-year college or technical institute education or two years of undergraduate university training to directly transfer into the third year of study and complete a four-year degree within 1.5 years.

International Student Services

CityU is committed to providing various resources to support student success, including academic advising, career services, and a writing center. International Student Services, a help/information center for international CityU students, also provides support regarding transcripts, graduation, tutoring resources, calendars, careers and work options, tuition, and plenty of other resources and tips. 

English Proficiency 

International students must meet CityU’s English Proficiency requirements to enroll in courses. Acceptable means to demonstrate English proficiency include official transcripts authenticated by test publishers (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, etc.). Acceptable scores for TOEFL, IELTS and Duolingo are as follows:

  • TOEFL iBT
    • 76 (Undergraduate)
  • IELTS
    • Band 6.0 (Undergraduate)
  • Duolingo
    • 100 (Undergraduate)
