Canada Day Celebrations: Exciting Events Unveiled Nationwide!

As June comes to an end, everyone is excited to celebrate Canada Day, a Canadian holiday that occurs on July 1st! Many Canadians are excited to celebrate through various festivities, outdoor activities, and most of all, fireworks! As we come together to celebrate the birth of our great nation, we are reminded of the remarkable journey that has shaped Canada into the diverse, inclusive, and vibrant country it is today.

Canada Day is a time for reflection, appreciation, and unity as we pay tribute to the land we call home and the people who make it truly special. To help with this, let us embrace the maple leaf spirit and join in on the festivities that showcase Canada’s rich heritage!

Fireworks taking place in Metro Vancouver!

British Columbia, specifically, Metro Vancouver, is not afraid to show off its festivities to help celebrate this joyous holiday! With Metro Vancouver having various lively areas to visit, there will be plenty of spots for anyone to visit so that no one is left out! Here are some recommended spots in Metro Vancouver to check out if you would like to partake in Canada Day!

Surrey Canada Day 2023

Surrey, British Columbia, is located between the Fraser River and the U.S. border. Not only will there be a showcase of fireworks occurring, but you should expect there to be various other things for individuals to enjoy, such as many concert lineups, family-friendly activities, food trucks, and more! Here is what you should know about this upcoming event:

  • When: July 1, 2023 
  • Time: 10 am to 10:30 pm. Fireworks at 10:15 pm 
  • Where: Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre – 17728 64th Avenue, Surrey 
  • Admission: Free

Canada Day, Burnaby 2023

Burnaby British Columbia will also be hosting a Canada Day event filled with many activities, filled with food vendors, a beer garden, and free live performances! Here are some more details on what to expect for this event!

  • When: July 1, 2023 
  • Time: 6:30 to 10:30 pm. Fireworks at 10 pm 
  • Where: Civic Square, Central Boulevard, and Central Park 
  • Admission: Free

Canada Day Port Coquitlam

Port Coquitlam is located in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, where its Canada Day celebration will be taking place at CastlePark! During this event, there will be many live performances to look forward to, such as Canadian country star Chad Brownlee and legendary rockers April Wine. Additionally, there will be family-friendly activities, food trucks, market vendors, and a fireworks display. 

  • When: July 1, 2023 
  • Time: 12 to Dusk. Fireworks after dark 
  • Where: Castle Park – 2252 Castle Crescent, Port Coquitlam Coquitlam 
  • Admission: Free

Canada Day Coquitlam

During noon, Coquitlam British Columbia is happy to celebrate this holiday with many additional events to look forward to. Many events such as family-friendly live entertainment, multicultural performances, food trucks, activities, and a chance to learn about Canadian and pre-colonial Indigenous history are to be expected. Fireworks will also be occurring over Lafarge Lake during the evening, so stay on the lookout for that!

  • When: July 1, 2023 
  • Time: 12 to 10:30 pm. Fireworks at 10 pm 
  • Where: Town Centre Park – 1299 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam
  • Admission: Free

Canada Day Celebrations in Toronto, Ontario

Ontario is a large province in Canada, so it is no surprise there will be plenty of upcoming events and parties during this holiday! Originally, the decision to host this was declined, however, Toronto Ontario has recently decided they will be hosting a Canada Day celebration at Nathan Phillips Square.

Canada Day, Montreal

Montrealers can look forward to celebrating Canada Day on July 1st in the Old Port of Montreal, where rich activities will be occurring! Expect to look forward to many fun activities, from family-friendly activities such as shows for children, a playground, fun workshops, the sharing of the cake, relaxation areas, the Canadian Armed Forces salute, activities presented by Parks Canada, and a party hosted by a DJ duo.

  • When: July 1, 2023 
  • Time: 1 pm 
  • Where: Clock Tower Pier Old Port of Montréal Montréal, QC
  • Admission: Free

Canada Day, Calgary

Recently, Calgary has decided to host a fireworks show for the 2023 holiday! It was recently announced on May 18th, City manager David Duckworth stated “They will be working with partners to confirm an appropriate site and will share details as they become available.”

There are plenty of events to look forward to on this special day! Many people will look forward to this incredible holiday, not only for fun filled memories to be created, but to be excited for celebrating Canada as a country!
