Immerse Yourself in the Rhythms of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival: A Celebration of Music, Creativity, and Community!

If you are a music lover and especially have a special place for jazz in your heart, you must check out the upcoming Vancouver International Jazz Festival! Hosted by Coastal Jazz and Blues Society, this fun-filled event will be showcasing various talented groups to show off their musical talent from June 23rd to July 2nd! Additionally, this will be the 38th-anniversary event, where dozens of free shows will be all over the city from downtown and Granville Island!  

What is Coastal Jazz and Blues Society?

The narrative of Coastal Jazz and Blues Society embodies determination, passion, idealism, community, and most of all, music! It is known to be a community-based, not-for-profit, charitable arts organization that began in 1985. The Coastal Jazz and Blues Society is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was officially incorporated in 1986. Since its commencement, its purpose is to establish Vancouver as a hub for the creation and exchange of music and ideas among local, national, and international music communities!

Coastal Jazz and Blues Society has many objectives and goals to reach, such as the following:

  • Foster a greater music appreciation
  • Enhance the arts community through the development of special projects, artistic exchanges, and more.

This festival also has a broad range of genres, such as the following:

  • Jazz
  • Blues
  • World music
  • Creative Music
  • Improvised music ( including forms of jazz and the technologies)

Highlights to expect! (Downtown Jazz series)

  • ​​Grammy and Juno-nominated Lido Pimienta
  • Afro-Cuban rockstar vocalist Cimafunk and his nine-piece band of Havana all-stars
  • Australian instrumental electronic jazz trio Brekky Boy

Highlights to expect! (Granville Island Jazz series)

  • Festival’s opening night performance by The Fits + Hayley Wallis and The Bright Futures at Ocean Artworks
  • Free late-night jams 
  • Late-night DJ sets for fans to discover

Additional performers to look out for!

Although there are already some highlights for the Downtown and Grandville Island Jazz series, there will be more additional performers to look out for when visiting this event! Here are some more groups you may find when visiting this festival!

Enjoy the creative and fun performances displayed for you! 

This festival will be a great chance to make memories with friends, families, and others! There is no better way of having fun during the summer season and enjoying some fun music with those you care for. Jazz does a very good job of demonstrating improvisation, so anyone who chooses to attend this beautiful international festival can look forward to seeing many examples of creativity through artists!
