About the Advanced 3D Animation and 3D Modelling program
The Advanced 3D Animation and 3D Modelling program at KPU is for students who wish to bring their imagination and creative ideas to life and eventually find a niche within the industry. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach, combining artistic creativity with technical expertise so that students can become well-rounded professionals. Students in the program will learn the basics of modelling, texturing, lighting, and animating while using tools and techniques introduced in the classroom.
Key Information
The Advanced 3D Animation and 3D Modelling program is a 2-year long, full-time program with 96 credits delivered over six consecutive terms.
Students will first learn the following artistic skills:
- Traditional drawing
- Sculpting techniques
Using these skills, students will then delve into:
- 3D models
- Environments
- Animations
3D animation courses will focus on animation principles, as well as:
- Rigging
- Basic scripting
- Cloth simulation
- Body mechanics
- Animation for characters, inanimate objects, and creatures
3D modelling courses will focus on the latest industry techniques, including;
- Hard surface modelling
- Sculpting
- Texturing
- Surfacing
Finally, students will learn to integrate the following to bring their models and animations for final compositions:
- Look development
- Shading
- Compositing fundamentals
