Potential Transit Disruptions in Metro Vancouver: Stay Informed and Plan Ahead

Several local news sources in Vancouver have reported that public transportation users in Metro Vancouver might experience significant disruptions to TransLink’s bus network and SeaBus services beginning early next week. This is due to an increase in the ongoing job action by the bus operations supervisors of the Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC).

In an announcement on Thursday, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4500 stated that it is giving CMBC an ultimatum before the service starts on Monday, January 22, to achieve a “fair collective agreement” for the 180 bus operations supervisors. If an agreement is not reached, all 180 supervisors will stop providing their services from 3 am on Monday for 48 hours.

This includes supervisors responsible for CMBC’s transit, maintenance, service, tire person, TComm, field service training, engineering, and warranty administration, as well as those overseeing the parts department, body shop, trolley overhead, and fare box.

To stay informed about any developments or changes in the situation, it is highly recommended that commuters regularly check reliable news sources and TransLink‘s official announcements. Keeping yourself updated will help you plan your travels accordingly during this period of potential service disruptions.
