Unlock Language, Culture & Fun As An International ELL High Schooler with Coquitlam School District’s Summer Camp Programs

Committing to a semester, a year or an entire five-year’s worth of learning in a Canadian high school can be daunting for international students. High school summer camps for international English Language Learners (ELL) have become increasingly popular as a means of academic and cultural enrichment without the long-term commitment. These short-term summer programs provide a glimpse into the Canadian education system while offering an enjoyable and memorable stay in Canada.

Summer High School Credit Course Program

For students who are only looking to complete course credits over the summer, Coquitlam School District’s Summer High School Credit Course Program offers just that. Over six weeks, students will participate in either one or two courses to receive credit.

Summer Intensive ESL and Cultural Program

Students who are looking to make their academic learning enjoyable can take part in the Summer Intensive ESL and Cultural Program. Taught by B.C.-Government-certified teachers, this program is divided into a Morning and Afternoon portion.

The Morning portion will focus on class-based ELL learning, from reading, listening, speaking, writing and vocabulary skills. Students will be required to write an assessment test at the beginning program to determine their English level. At the end of the program, they will receive a formal report card and a certificate of completion.

The Afternoon portion of the program is an extension of the Morning portion and is an opportunity for students to expand their learning of Canada by joining group activities that take place across the Lower Mainland area of B.C.

Activities for the Afternoon portion may include:

  • Hiking
  • Golfing
  • Bowling
  • Exploring and learning about First Nations arts and crafts
  • Bus trips to sightseeing areas like…
