1. A snowball effect

Meaning:

Events have momentum and build upon each other.

Example sentence:

One mistake starts sort of a snowball effect of attention.

2. You can’t judge a book by its cover

Meaning:

This person or thing may look bad, but it’s good inside.

Example sentence:

The candidate did not look very intelligent, but you can’t judge a book by its cover.

3. Throw caution to the wind

Meaning:

Taking a risk.

Example sentence:

 He pauses, deciding to throw caution to the wind.

4. There are other fish in the sea

Meaning:

It’s ok to miss this opportunity. Others will arise.

Example sentence:

When my girlfriend broke up with me, she told me there are other fish in the sea and that I’d find somebody more suitable.
