What is a pathway program and how does it work?

A direct pathway program is designed to provide a streamlined route for students to progress from one level of study to another—typically from a foundational or preparatory program to an undergraduate degree program. These programs are common at institutions like TMUIC that offer pathway programs for international students or students who may need additional academic preparation before entering a formal degree program at a university.

At TMUIC, the University Transfer Program Stage II (UTP Stage II) programs are equivalent to first year of studies at TMU. Upon completing your UTP Stage II program, you will join TMU as a 2nd-year student to earn your degree, gain valuable work experience through internships and co-op placements, and launch your career in one of the world’s best cities.
