Honda Celebration of Light: The Most Awaited Event This Summer

Every year, English Bay receives hundreds of tourists and citizens around the Honda Celebration of Light, an event which lasts during 3 different nights, to see and enjoy fireworks by the world’s best pyrotechnic teams, over the summer.

The purpose of this event is to spark togetherness in a celebration of community, music, food and fireworks.

This 2024, Honda Celebration of Light comes back for a 32nd time, bringing the colours from Portugal (Macedos Pirotecnia), Malaysia (Team Pyro Tact) and the United Kingdom (Team Pyrotex Fireworx).

“The province is proud to support Honda Celebration of Light. Events like this bolster local businesses, generate jobs, and create cherished memories for all participants. We can’t wait to welcome people from all over the world again and give them and British Columbians a show they’ll never forget!” – said Lana Popham, Tourism Minister.

When is the Show?

This family-friendly program will take place on 3 different nights, starting at 10pm:

• Saturday, July 20: Portugal’s Team Macedos Pirotecnia

• Wednesday, July 24: Malaysia’s Team Pyro Tact

• Saturday, July 27: United Kingdom’s Team Pyrotex Fireworx

You can find music, food trucks and more during this celebration. The winning team will be announced on July 31st.

Pre-Show Entertainment

RedBull comes back to entertain with its Air Show’s stunt pilots before the firework show starts, during the 3 nights, around 7pm. But, that is not the only pre-show you can see. There will be a spectacle and debut of an electric drone sponsored by BC Honda Dealers, with a “dazzling, choreographed drone display” around 9:50pm, according to the Vancouver Sun newspaper.

Do I Have to Pay for the Show?

No! The show is completely free. Because this event is free, the beach can get quite busy during the day. It is best to visit English Bay during the day and save your spot for the evening. However, if you want to have more privacy, or ensure that you reserve a seat you can buy ticketed seating (online) in one of three reserved grandstand areas for the event, which provides exclusive VIP and family-friendly seating and viewing.

In case you are looking for a cheaper option, going to Kitsilano could also be a great idea. You will see the same event from the other side and the view will still be amazing.
