About Saskatchewan
Globally, Saskatchewan is known as a constant and trustworthy provider of safe, high-quality grains, livestock, oilseeds, pulses, and agri-food items. Saskatchewan’s agricultural exports reached a record-breaking $20.2 billion in 2023, and account for 40% of all Canadian exports. Saskatchewan’s major crop production is for cereal grains, oilseeds, pulses, and edible oils. As one of two of Canada’s landlocked provinces (other than Alberta), Saskatchewan is bordered by Manitoba on the east, Alberta on the west, Northwest Territories to the north, and Montana/North Dakota to the south. A fun fact about this province is that it is known for receiving the most hours of sunshine than any other Canadian province annually, while also lying far away from any major body of water.
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)
The SINP is a program where the province nominates individuals to the federal government that they believe should receive permanent residence. This nomination occurs under three categories, in which temporary residents can apply if they meet the required criteria. Each category is then divided into various categories.
International students who have graduated from any recognized Canadian institution in/out of the province of Saskatchewan fall under the “Saskatchewan Experience” category within the subcategory of students. (Please note that you must meet the criteria listed for an international student graduate from inside the province of Saskatchewan or from another province. The criteria will vary.)
- International Skilled Worker
- Saskatchewan Experience (6 Subcategories Including “Students”)
- Business Immigration (Entrepreneur or Farm)
Like Saskatchewan’s neighbouring provincial nominee programs, a minimum of 60 points is required in the pre-assessment stage.

Language Requirements for SINP
At the moment, the Province of Saskatchewan only accepts these tests which are equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4.

*If you have a job offer in a National Occupational Classification (NOC) C or D occupation you will need to complete an assessment, as a requirement for IRCC’s Provincial Nominee Program. To check if your job is a NOC C or D, click here.
*Unless you are applying through IRCC’s Express Entry pool, you do not need to submit a language test if you are a native speaker from an English or French speaking country (and you are a citizen/permanent resident).
*Check your job offer to see if you have an English requirement. Jobs in regulated occupations may have a language requirement. Check with your regulatory body.
* Individuals applying to the Tech Talent Pathway do not need to take a language test if they are working for the employer offering them the job that they are applying to the SINP with.

Three-Year Undergraduate Degree – Saskatchewan
Currently, various schools throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba offer a three-year undergraduate degree. These programs are not intended for students who would like to pursue graduate studies, or further education at a PhD level.
The University of Saskatchewan offers five different bachelor degrees in a three-year period.
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Three-year). Students who take this program can complete a Bachelor of Science in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science over a three year period.
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Three-year). Students who take this program can complete a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, sociology, political science, history, English, and other humanities/social sciences, in three years.
- Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm. Three-year). Students who take this program can complete a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting, finance, marketing, management, entrepreneurship, to pursue a career in business.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. Three-year). The Bachelor of Education is a three-year program for students to become a teacher in elementary or secondary schools. Students can also choose to specialize in early childhood education, elementary education, or secondary education.
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A. Three-year). Students who take this program can choose concentrations in visual arts, drama, music, or dance in a three year program.
