SD40 began in the 1920s and is committed to assisting their students in becoming self-sufficient adults who are kind, creative, wise and able to adapt to an evolving environment. Located in New Westminster, this district is known for providing innovative learning opportunities to their students.
What’s New in the District?
Recently, the New Westminster School District announced that they are welcoming a new associate superintendent, Geraldine Lawlor who has been an educator for 32 years!
How Many Students are Currently in the District?
Around 8,000 students are currently enrolled in the district.
How Many Schools are in the District?
Currently there are 12 schools in the district as well as 3 alternate programs for youth. SD40 offers Sigma which is an alternate program for students aged 16-18, Power Alternate Secondary School with innovative and unique learning opportunities, and Royal City Alternate Program which helps students aged 13-15 transition to regular and alternate high school programs.
