About 3D Animation & Visual Effects Program
The 3D Animation & Visual Effects program at VFS is a comprehensive 12-month course designed to equip you with the skills needed for a successful career in the industry.
Upon completion, you will graduate with a diploma in 3D Animation, Visual Effects, and Modelling. For your final project, you will create a master demo reel showcasing your skills to potential employers. Additionally, you’ll gain access to the VFS Alumni Directory & Job Board, helping you build valuable industry connections that can guide your career.
Program Structure
- Term 1: Learn the fundamentals of a 3D pipeline and gain insight into different areas of production.
- Term 2: Apply your 3D skills to storytelling in Pre-visualization classes.
- Term 3: Choose a specialization in animation, modelling, or VFX and plan your final reel.
- Terms 4–6: Enter the studio component, work on your demo reel, and prepare for Industry Night.
Admission Requirements
To apply for the 3D Animation & Visual Effects program at VFS, you must meet the following requirements:
Portfolio:
- Include 2–3 samples of 3D animation or modelling.
- Provide at least one example of source code, along with a one-page document describing the code.
- Alternatively, certificates of completion for specific Unity projects may be submitted.
Age & Education:
- You must be at least 19 years old.
- Successful completion of high school or a GED equivalent is required.
Prior Learning (preferred but not mandatory):
- Background in computing and/or digital media.
- Familiarity with JavaScript, C#, C++, and game engines like Unity or Unreal is an asset.
3D Experience:
- Some prior experience with 3D animation, modelling, or visual effects is expected.
