Saskatchewan is opening its doors to internationally educated nurses (IENs) who are ready to bring their expertise to the Canadian healthcare system. With high demand for qualified professionals, Saskatchewan Polytechnic offers a unique program designed to support internationally educated registered nurses as they transition into practice in Canada. The Registered Nursing Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Nurses (RNBP-IEN) provides the education, clinical experience, and regulatory support needed to pursue licensure and employment as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Canada—all within a nine-month full-time program.

This full-time program is approved by the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) and meets the requirements of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Graduates are prepared for safe, entry-level nursing practice in Canada and can apply for a graduate license that allows them to work while awaiting the NCLEX exam.

- Learn about the Canadian health care system.
- Study health assessment, health challenges, communications and care of the elderly.
- Study medical technology, terminology and drug therapy theory in Canada.
- Study regulations, ethics, safety and cultural competency.
- Explore issues generated by language barriers and cultural differences.
- Have your clinical skills assessed in comparison to techniques and equipment used in Canada.
- Take part in simulation labs and supervised clinical practice education.
- Prepare to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
*Graduates are employment-ready and may begin working under a graduate license while waiting to write the NCLEX.

A simplified pathway from international qualification to Canadian licensure:
- Be a degree-educated, registered nurse in your home country.
- Create an account with the National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS), pay CDN $750 fee and submit documentation to NNAS.

- NNAS authenticates complete documents and provides the advisory report to CRNS.
- Create an account with CRNS and pay IEN application fee.

- CRNS reviews assessment and, if eligible, refers you to Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
- Receive instructions to submit Saskatchewan Polytechnic application for RNBP-IEN program.
