Applied Learning in Action: Supply Chain and Logistics at Langara College

Last Update: January 13, 2026

Langara College’s Supply Chain and Logistics program demonstrates how applied learning can translate directly into professional outcomes. A recent feature, Building Futures: The Win-Win Benefits of Practicums for Students and Employers, highlights the experience of Pranav Sharma, a student in Langara’s Supply Chain and Logistics (SCL) Post-Degree Diploma program.

During his practicum at Locher Evers International, Pranav worked in both the Manifest and Inland Freight departments. His responsibilities included preparing documentation for incoming vessels, ensuring cargo was customs-cleared, and coordinating shipment movements across Canada and into the United States. Over the course of his placement, he earned CargoWise Certified Operator status and developed practical workplace skills such as time management, meeting tight deadlines, and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced logistics environment.

The practicum led to a job offer in the same department where he trained. His mentor, Rishabh Manchanda, a Key Account Manager and Langara SCL graduate, emphasized the value of hosting practicum students—not only as a way to support emerging professionals, but also as a pathway to identifying future team members. The experience reflects how structured work placements can bridge academic learning with real-world application.
