Five Vancouver Community College (VCC) students earned medal finishes at the 37th annual Skills Canada National Competition, held at the Enercare Centre in Toronto on May 28 and 29, 2026.
Representing Team BC, the students competed against apprentices and students from across Canada in skilled trades and technology competitions.
According to VCC, participation at the national level requires months of preparation, technical training, and the ability to perform under competition conditions.
Among the medal winners was Totie Li, who received a Gold Medal in the Post-Secondary Baking category.
“The Skills competitions were truly an amazing experience and I have learned so much from everyone. Thank you so much for the support!” said Li.
Kimberly Tada, a VCC Baking instructor, praised the students’ performance throughout the competition.
“Our students demonstrated exceptional professionalism, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the competition,” said Tada. “I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.”
VCC stated that the students’ results reflect the dedication, resilience, and excellence they demonstrated throughout the competition process.
