Capilano University has officially opened Treehouse, its first on-campus student residence at the North Vancouver campus, aiming to reduce commute time for students who are travelling from across the Lower Mainland. The new six-storey building can accommodate 360 students, with the first residents moving in on May 30, 2026, and full occupancy expected by September 2026.

The new residence is named Lam̓íwa and θqétəw̓txʷ, words provided by the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and the səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation), respectively. Both names translate to “Treehouse” and reflect the vision of creating “a home in the woods.”
