Two Saskatchewan Polytechnic graduates received the 2026 Innovation Award for capstone projects that apply technology to modern challenges. Interactive Design and Technology graduate Maleeha Ali designed a centralized student app featuring schedules, deadlines, course materials, campus services, notifications and offline access.
Cyber Security graduate Ujjawal Thakur developed an automated phishing-link detection platform that combines machine learning, reputation checks and real-time threat intelligence to produce risk scores and identify emerging threats such as QR-code phishing.
Each recipient received a Sask Polytech medal and a $1,000 cash prize, highlighting the institution’s focus on practical learning, innovation and real-world problem-solving.
